JCH&L Gardenside Evacuates Because of Fire Alarm
JCH&L Gardenside evacuated for a short time at around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, because of a fire alarm caused by smoke in the housekeeping area. Residents were taken to the JCH&L North Building.
Patrick Hoins, JCH&L Facilities Director and Safety Officer, said the fire department did come on site and helped investigate the cause of the smoke. The smoke was found to be from an air handling unit on the roof, and the problem was corrected.
Gardenside residents were brought back into the facility once the fire department gave the all clear.
There were no injuries and no damage. The fire alarms sounded for about 45 minutes.
