Summer Series Planned for Kids Cooking Classes
A summer series is planned for a popular Kids Cooking Class offered by Jefferson Community Health & Life and Nebraska Extension-Jefferson County. Children will have an opportunity to learn about healthy eating and the importance of working together to plan and prepare healthy meals during a three-session class.
The program is open to kids who will be entering grades 1-3 in the fall for Wednesday afternoon/supper classes, and for kids who will be entering grades 4-6 in the fall for Thursday morning/lunch classes. For both groups, youth must have the participation and support of an adult partners. During each class, participants will prepare a simple healthy meal together and then enjoy the meal as a group.
The 1st through 3rd grade class will be held on Wednesdays, July 17, 24, and 31 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The 4th through 6th grade class will be held on Thursdays, July 18 & 25, and Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The registration fee is $45 per team for each 3-session class. Pre-registration with payment is required by Monday, July 15. Please note: previous classes have filled quickly, and registration is limited.
Aprons will be available for the children to wear during the class, and available for them to purchase after the class if they choose for an additional $5.
